MAI-NDOMBE READY FOR PEACE: STRATEGIC DIALOGUE BETWEEN PROVINCIAL LEADERSHIP AND P-DDRCS COORDINATION SIGNALS IMMINENT DEPLOYMENT
Kinshasa, November 7, 2025 — In a decisive step toward restoring peace and State authority in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the National Coordination of the Disarmament, Demobilization, Community Reintegration and Stabilization Program (P-DDRCS), led by National Coordinator Professor Jean de Dieu Désiré Ntanga Ntita, held a strategic meeting with a high-level delegation from Mai-Ndombe Province, headed by Governor NKOSO KEVANI Lebon.
The delegation expressed its firm commitment to establishing a formal partnership with the P-DDRCS, aiming to facilitate the program’s deployment in Mai-Ndombe. The governor emphasized the urgency of launching DDRCS operations in this violence-affected region, noting that armed combatants are ready to abandon the bush and join the national peace process. He underscored the province’s strong interest in hosting the program without delay.
Professor Ntanga Ntita, accompanied by Deputy National Coordinator for Administrative and Financial Affairs William Balika Lwamushi and technical experts, welcomed the delegation’s initiative as a patriotic gesture and reaffirmed the P-DDRCS’s readiness to support Mai-Ndombe in its journey toward peace. He presented the program’s strategic framework, highlighting its vision, pillars, and decentralized governance structures at provincial, territorial, and community levels.
Discussions also emphasized the critical role of the provincial governor as the representative of the Head of State and chair of the local Peace Consultation and Support Framework (CCPAP). The National Coordinator stressed that the governor’s leadership in animating the CCPAP is essential for coordinating all stakeholders and ensuring effective implementation. He reiterated that the P-DDRCS is the sole government-mandated structure for all DDRCS-related activities, as defined by Presidential Ordinance No. 21/038 of July 4, 2021.
Professor Ntanga Ntita assured the delegation that Mai-Ndombe is among ten priority provinces slated for imminent deployment. Both parties pledged to work in close collaboration to materialize the President’s vision: restoring State authority and achieving sustainable peace across the national territory.
