SOUTH KIVU: THE PROJECT “ACTING FOR CHILDREN’S RIGHTS TODAY AND IN THE FUTURE” PRESENTED TO P‑DDRCS
Uvira, November 19, 2025. A working session between the Provincial Coordination of the P‑DDRCS in South Kivu and the organization Popolifrateli was held on Wednesday at the P‑DDRCS office in Uvira, the temporary provincial capital.
The meeting was dedicated to the presentation of the NORAD‑funded project “Acting for Children’s Rights Today and in the Future,” implemented with financial support from Save the Children. The partner outlined the project’s components, emphasizing its focus on supporting vulnerable children. Under Component 1, which addresses the school and socio‑economic reintegration of children formerly associated with armed forces and groups (CAAFAG), the project foresees certification and reintegration of approximately ten children in the territories of Uvira and Fizi.
Deputy Provincial Coordinator for Operations, Mr. Odifax Akilimali Zagabe, reminded participants of the requirements of the National Strategy of the P‑DDRCS and the provisions of the DDR‑Child Operational Framework regarding procedures for identifying, verifying, and certifying children associated with armed groups. He recommended that the partner fully align with the philosophy and operational standards of the Program to ensure coherence and effectiveness.
It should be noted that this project is currently being implemented and is expected to conclude by the end of the year.
