The National Coordination of the Disarmament, Demobilization, Community Recovery and Stabilization Program (P DDRCS) held an information exchange meeting on Friday, 23 January 2026, with stakeholders involved in addressing the conflicts triggered by the Mobondo phenomenon and supporting community recovery efforts.

The meeting aimed to strengthen coordination and complementarity in interventions through open, structured, and results oriented dialogue.

The session was officially opened by the Deputy National Coordinator in charge of technical and operational matters, Mrs. Marie Chantal Lumba Tshimanga, on behalf of the National Coordinator, Professor Jean de Dieu Désiré Ntanga Ntita. In her opening remarks, she recalled that the Program operates under the high authority of the Head of State, H.E. Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, who also chairs the steering committee of the P DDRCS.

She emphasized that the areas affected by the Mobondo crisis continue to face persistent instability, marked by intercommunity tensions, complex security challenges, urgent needs in civil protection, local mediation, and socio-economic reintegration. In this context, no actor, however committed, can act effectively in isolation. It was precisely for this reason that the P DDRCS deemed it essential to convene this meeting, which is fully aligned with its national strategy placing coordination, complementarity, and territorial coherence at the heart of public action.

Discussions covered several key points, including the security, community, and institutional context in the Mobondo zones; ongoing and planned community mediation and conflict prevention activities; socio economic projects; challenges and lessons learned; and the identification of synergies and recommendations for next steps. Partners such as Interpeace, Caritas FLC, Ibi Village, the Hans Seidel Foundation, and Cause Rurale contributed actively to the exchanges.

Among the recommendations were: accreditation of humanitarian NGOs, mapping and orientation of data, joint field missions with technical teams, and the integration of the P DDRCS community-based approach in all reintegration and recovery projects, applying the ratio of one ex combatant to two community members.

In her closing remarks, Mrs. Marie Chantal Lumba Tshimanga thanked the partners for their presence, which reflects their constant commitment to peace, stability, and sustainable community recovery, as well as their active participation that enabled fruitful exchanges. She concluded: “The challenges are enormous, but together we will overcome them, with the determination to carry out actions that truly impact and bring tangible results at the local level.”
