BANDUNDU: TRAINING OF SUPPORT TEAMS FOR THE DISARMAMENT AND DEMOBILIZATION OF THE MOBONDO ARMED GROUP

Mbankana, Bandundu Province – In preparation for upcoming disarmament and demobilization operations in Bandundu Province, an advance team from the National Coordination of the P‑DDRCS has been deployed to Mbankana since Sunday, November 15, 2025. The mission aims to strengthen the capacities of support teams and consultants, identify operational sites, and train local teams to assist in the process.

Before launching the training sessions, the delegation of P‑DDRCS experts met with key local stakeholders to ensure collective engagement and effective coordination. These included Colonel Mafuta, Commander of the Maluku Regiment, the command and intelligence team in Menkao, the sensitization officer of the Reserve Army of Defense (RAD), opinion leaders, and community figures with access to conflict zones in Dumi, as well as the battalion commander in Mbankana. The team also visited the Nkeme site in Dumi, designated for the operations, where they met one of the major actors of the Mobondo armed group, known as “Mutu Rouge.”

From November 18 to 19, 2025, P‑DDRCS experts officially launched several training sessions:
- Identification, Verification, and Orientation (IVO) team training in Maluku, led by Mr. Luc Mipukusu;
- Sensitization team training in Mbankana, led by Mr. Yannick Wangata;
- Weapons Control and Verification team training in Mbankana, led by Colonel Dieudonné Munyakazi.

This series of trainings marks a crucial step and lays the foundation for the effective launch of disarmament and demobilization operations targeting Mobondo militias in Greater Bandundu. The initiative aims to restore state authority and ensure lasting peace in this part of the Democratic Republic of Congo, in line with the vision of His Excellency Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, President of the Republic, implemented under the leadership of National Coordinator Professor Jean de Dieu Désiré Ntanga Ntita.
