KINSHASA : WESLEY METHODIST CHURCH REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO SUPPORTING P-DDRCS PEACE EFFORTS IN THE DRC

Kinshasa, 8 August 2025 – The National Coordinator of the Disarmament, Demobilization, Community Recovery and Stabilization Program (P-DDRC-S), His Excellency Professor Jean de Dieu Désiré Ntanga Ntita, PhD, today received Bishop Dr Pascal Mwamba Asumali, Legal Representative of the Wesleyan Methodist Church in the Democratic Republic of Congo, at his official office on 10 Avenue Milambo, Socimat Quarter, Kinshasa.
The meeting formed part of the Bishop’s courtesy visit to the newly appointed National Coordinator – a position to which Professor Jean de Dieu Désiré NTANGA NTITA was named by His Excellency Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, President of the Republic and Head of State – and an occasion to convey his personal congratulations for the renewed momentum being driven at the head of the Program, including a series of high-level initiatives in the provinces.
Bishop Mwamba commended the sustained attention that the National Coordination has given to Ituri Province, which has benefited from more than two strategic missions aimed at revitalizing operations on the ground. He also presented the social and humanitarian work undertaken by his not-for-profit organization, underscoring its active involvement in peacebuilding in support of the provincial executive, in full alignment with the Head of State’s vision. Drawing from his direct experience in engaging with armed groups, the bishop outlined lessons learned in the pursuit of dialogue – efforts that are consistent with the first pillar of the P-DDRC-S National Strategy: conflict resolution.
He reiterated the Wesleyan Methodist Church’s readiness to work alongside the Program in its field activities, noting that the organization has held an official authorization for collaboration from the P-DDRC-S Tanganyika office since 28 May 2023. Concluding his remarks, Bishop Mwamba assured that the Church continues to pray for peace, for the P-DDRC-S, and for its leadership, in meeting the challenge of national stability.
In response, the National Coordinator warmly welcomed the bishop’s message, reaffirming the Program’s openness to cooperation with all stakeholders – without exclusion – to secure lasting peace for communities most in need. “Everyone has a place in the P-DDRC-S for sustainable success,” he stated.
