REINTEGRATION IN IRUMU: THE P-DDRCS BRINGS TO LIFE THE PRESIDENT’S VISION OF PEACE THROUGH REASSURING LEADERSHIP

Irumu, October 24, 2025 – In the territory of Irumu, 91 ex-combatants and 182 members of vulnerable communities will benefit from a socio-economic and psychosocial reintegration project officially launched on Friday, October 24, 2025, in front of the Batale Grouping Office, in the Baboa Bokoe Chiefdom.
This project, funded by the Peacebuilding Fund, perfectly illustrates the integrated approach of the Programme for Disarmament, Demobilization, Community Recovery and Stabilization (P-DDRCS). It combines the rehabilitation of local infrastructure—notably the agricultural feeder road between Miala and Kolomani—with direct support to beneficiaries through high labor-intensive activities (HIMO) over a period of 100 days. Each participant will receive USD 5 per day, as well as tools and agricultural inputs provided by the implementing partner NGO, MWANGAZA PEACE.

During the official launch ceremony, Mr. Flory Kitoko Manianga, Acting Provincial Coordinator of the P-DDRCS in Ituri, commended the host communities for their commitment to social cohesion and peaceful coexistence. He emphasized that the project’s objective goes beyond the economic reintegration of ex-combatants—it also aims to strengthen lasting peace in Batale and across the Irumu territory. This message of unity and peaceful coexistence reflects the national strategic vision of the P-DDRCS, driven with conviction by Professor Ntanga Ntita, in alignment with the clear guidance of His Excellency Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, President of the Republic and Head of State, who considers peacebuilding and the reintegration of former combatants as a cornerstone of national reconstruction.
The P-DDRCS ensures strict compliance with the 30% women’s participation quota in all its reintegration projects. Women—often at the forefront of community resilience—are fully involved in these initiatives, with special attention to the respect of their rights and dignity during HIMO activities.

Ms. Gloire Monga, Coordinator of Mwangaza Peace, expressed her gratitude to the beneficiaries for choosing the path of peace, while Mr. Liripa Jacques, representative of the demobilized group, paid tribute to those who have already joined the reintegration process. He also called for continued awareness-raising to encourage voluntary disarmament. “Thanks to the support of the P-DDRCS, we are starting a new life. This is a historic day for us,” he said with emotion.
Through this initiative, the P-DDRCS is doing more than reintegrating individuals—it is rebuilding social bonds, stabilizing fragile areas, and translating into action the vision of the Head of State: that of a reconciled Congo, united around the values of peace, security, and shared development.
