SOUTH KIVU: PROVINCIAL COORDINATION OF P‑DDRCS MEETS WITH VICE‑GOVERNOR TO REVITALIZE PEACE CONSULTATION FRAMEWORK ACTIVITIES

Uvira, November 19, 2025. The Provincial Coordination of the P‑DDRCS in South Kivu was received on Wednesday by the Vice‑Governor of the province, Jean‑Jacques Elakano.
Led by Acting Provincial Coordinator Odifax Akilimali Zagabe, accompanied by Chantal Makamba, Head of Administration and Finance, the delegation met with the provincial authority to discuss preparations for the upcoming meeting to revitalize the activities of the Consultation Framework for Peace and Support to the Program (CCPAP). This meeting is scheduled to take place next week in Uvira, the temporary seat of provincial institutions.
Since the partial installation of its members in April 2022, the activities of the CCPAP have struggled to take off due to institutional instability at the provincial level. During the audience, discussions also focused on the progress of program activities in the province. The delegation informed the Vice‑Governor of the new address of the Provincial Coordination Office, recently relocated to Uvira.
At the conclusion of the meeting, a focal point from the Governor’s Office was designated to liaise with the DDRCS Program. This decision was warmly welcomed by program officials, who emphasized that it will strengthen communication channels between the P‑DDRCS and the provincial government, thereby ensuring more effective coordination and support for peacebuilding initiatives.
