TANGANYIKA: NATIONAL COORDINATOR OF THE P-DDRCS UNDERTAKES A WORKING MISSION TO STRENGTHEN PROVINCIAL OWNERSHIP OF THE PEACE AND REINTEGRATION PROCESS

The National Coordinator of the Disarmament, Demobilisation, Community Recovery and Stabilisation Programme (P-DDRCS), Professor Jean de Dieu Désiré Ntanga Ntita, PhD, arrived in Kalemie, the capital of Tanganyika Province, on Sunday, 5 October 2025, at the head of a high-level delegation from the National Coordination.
Upon arrival, Professor Ntanga Ntita paid a courtesy visit to the Vice-Governor of Tanganyika Province, His Excellency Honourable Isidore Kabwe Longo. During this meeting, the National Coordinator expressed his profound gratitude to the provincial authorities for their continuous support in advancing the vision of His Excellency Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, President of the Republic, through the effective implementation of the P-DDRCS.

Accompanied by M. Trésor Ngabo, the provincial focal point of the Programme in Tanganyika, and several senior officials from the National Coordination, Professor Ntanga outlined the purpose and strategic objectives of his mission. The visit aims to reinforce provincial ownership and operational autonomy in implementing DDRCS-related activities, while also participating in the inaugural meeting of the Provincial Framework for Peace and Programme Support (CCPAP).
The mission also includes consultations with the Peacebuilding Fund (PBF) delegation on the evaluation of ongoing activities, the definition of future priorities, and a high-level advocacy effort to encourage the integration of the P-DDRCS into the provincial budget line, in alignment with the national strategy. Emphasis was placed on the need for sustained institutional support, both political and financial, to ensure that peace and reintegration initiatives are sustainable and community-driven.

In his remarks, Vice-Governor Isidore Kabwe Longo reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of the Tanganyika provincial government to support the implementation of the Programme.
“We must ‘Congolise’ reintegration projects and the implementation of the P-DDRCS,” he stated, underscoring the importance of national ownership and the localisation of peacebuilding efforts.
The mission of the National Coordination to Tanganyika represents a major step in revitalising and consolidating the Programme at the provincial level. It reinforces the alignment between national directives and local implementation, ensuring that the DDRCS remains a cornerstone of the Government’s vision for peace, stability, and social cohesion.
Through this field engagement, the P-DDRCS continues to act as an instrument of national unity and reconstruction, translating the political will of the Head of State into tangible progress for communities emerging from conflict.
